Today, I will explain how to use it in order to unleash the enormous photographic potential hidden inside these attractive subjects. As the title of the article says, the secret is to get your flash unit off-camera. Used in this way, an electronic flash is a frog photographer's best friend: rather than simply documenting frogs, you will do justice to them.

Advantages of using flash when photographing frogs - April 13, 2010
In photography, few other animal groups can benefit as much from artificial lighting as do frogs. By artificial lighting, I mean a flash; and when I say benefit, I'm talking about richer colors, more defined textures and attractive lighting effects. Frogs are already photogenic and charismatic subjects, but they will look even better in your pictures if you use flash to illuminate them. Beyond that, flash can improve the technical quality of your frog shots, thus making them more valuable from a scientific point of view.
